Great list. Big fan of Frownies!

Frownies are the best!

I had another thought. Do you ever get hot flushes at night and if yes, do those socks stay on?

Amelia Wilson's avatar

I don't get hot flashes anymore (menopause ended for me 9 years ago), but when I do get hot in the night, I throw off my blankets - my feet don't seem to get sweaty - it's more my head/arms!

Marcia Francois's avatar

That makes sense!

Congratulations on 200 posts!!! I have enough things on my counter but you did a great job on that rice cooker! I already have a kettle because South Africans are also avid tea drinkers 💛

EVERYONE needs an electric kettle!

Cathy Cashion's avatar

Aussie Reader. In Australia the electric kettle is standard fare in a kitchen, offices and hotel rooms.

On my first trip to US/New York 15years ago I was absolutely gobsmacked to discover that not only was there not a kettle in the room but the hotel concierge did not understand what I was looking for !!

Amelia Wilson's avatar

me too, Cathy!! I now take an electric travel kettle with me whenever I travel within the US - although hotels have gotten better about providing them/knowing what they are!

it really is the simple things in life. I have that same kettle, just got it a couple years ago, not sure how I lived so long without one! use it daily.

Amelia Wilson's avatar

I love that it has a variety of temperature settings!

Oh, I am SO with you on the Zojirushi and an electric kettle with precision boiling. Great investments that make life soooo much better.

THANK YOU for the sock rec, I've been wondering where to find some cozy ones for the cold season ahead. Clicked on that link so fast!!

For my own cheap luxury, I'm going to offer this egg cooker. I love hard-boiled and soft-boiled eggs. But I hate making them the traditional way (peeling eggs makes me, like, irrationally irritated 😂). But this egg cooker makes those shells just fall off. Seriously, it's $25 kitchen magic!

My husband bought the egg cooker and used it this morning to make boiled eggs! Thanks for the rec, Amy!

Amy Kerr's avatar

Ahhh I'm so happy to hear this!!! May you have many egg-cellent mornings!

Randi's avatar

agree on the egg cooker. I try to avoid single function objects but this one is worth it.

Amy Kerr's avatar

Me too, Randi! I wouldn't have gotten one, except *my* friend was raving about it and literally gave it to me. Such a small gift with such a huge impact!

Amelia Wilson's avatar

ps: I hope you like the socks!

Amy Kerr's avatar

Update: socks are bomb!! 💣

Amelia Wilson's avatar

I can't tell you how happy this makes me!

Amelia Wilson's avatar

that egg cooker looks like a GREAT buy! we had a similar one growing up - takes me back! about to make my 4th cup of tea of the day using my kettle! LOL!

Great recs - as to reading glasses- I pay $1.50 a pair for reading glasses at the dollar store

Amelia Wilson's avatar

that is a great hack, Katie! I will get myself to a Dollar Store next time I need to stock up! Thank you for reading, xo Amelia

So funny that you put Malcom first! It’s what I immediately thought based on a Gogglebox quote. It’s become a bit of a saying in our house

Okay, I just bought a $26 balsamic vinegar and I felt like a psychopath, but WHAT a luxury. A salad with this balsamic is just SO MUCH better.

Thank you for the sock science. I did not sleep with socks last night and had insomnia. And I woke up thinking "it's because my feet were cold."

Amelia Wilson's avatar

Try wearing socks and see what you think!!
