I'm turning 40 next month, and I'm all in if the fun starts then! I started my lovely journey into perimenopause at 38 (early as well). Quite the ride!

happy birthday for next month - I hope you’re doing something fun to celebrate!

I’m sure your publication is a blessing to many. I remember that stage of my life and you seem to be addressing it nicely. I am 80 and wish you well.

It's kind of a meme to fret about entering mid-life, but so many women in their 40s-80s really seem to be living life on their own terms. It's so inspiring!

it's the best! 10/10 recommend!

Thank you for your post Amelia! At 47, I do most of your recommendations, but with two children under 10, it can be a challenge at times! For example, to get my time of solitude in, I wake up at 430am almost every morning. I've had to cut back on hard exercise (I used to do heavy strength training) as the only time I could fit it in was early in the morning, but I realised my perimenopause body did not like the added stress. I just go for long walks now, but I'll find a way to squeeze it back in ..

Oh wow, 4:30 am is early! It's all a compromise isn't it? And things continue to change as our bodies and schedules evolve...Thank you for reading!

Great tips and reminders! At 45, a lot of these things have been on my mind. Looking forward to watching those shows! Always looking for good recommendations...

I'm so glad, Eva! Thank you for reading!

Sleep is my number one priority too as a 49 year old. I set up my day based on the rule that I’m going to bed at 9.00pm and reading for 30 mins. Bc sleep is my priority I also gave up alcohol (except for say, a birthday). Feeling so good! 😊

Amelia Wilson's avatar

So with you on the sleep! I've taken baby steps toward giving up alcohol - I'm drinking a lot less than I used to and feeling so much better for it!

That tinted moisturizer is $86 on Amazon. 🤔

Amelia Wilson's avatar

It is very expensive but excellent quality and lasts a long time. And I'm going to give away a tube to subscribers this month!

What a mindset shift on therapy, about living enough life to gain perspective on the past ❤️

Can only imagine how wise we'll feel when we're 80+!

I feel like I need to write these on a sticky note and slap them on my laptop—such great reminders for less stress and more contentment!

Aw, thank you Amy!

As somebody in their late twenties, it’s encouraging to know that life keeps getting better. Thank you! 🫶

p.s. I've wondered about those Frownies! Not having done Botox either, fascinated to learn you like them! 👀 XO

Love this SO much, Amelia—and ticking many of the same here! I'm a natural earlier riser, too, and it makes such a difference when I do (rather than get lost in the scroll—another great tip there with your phone!). And I love what you write about solitude, too, in reflecting "whether this is a result of becoming a mother and having many more demands on my time, something that happens to everyone with age, or a need I always had but, distracted by a fear of missing out, felt too insecure to claim." So good. And loved getting your take on trackers—I have an Oura ring but I wonder sometimes if it's always a good thing, I agree so much about listening to our bodies. So inspiring!! 💖

I am truly fascinated by which parts of getting older are universal (like my need for solitude) and which parts were always within us, waiting for us to grow up and be “ourselves” again! And the Frownies work. I’ve been using them for over a decade, both with and without Botox. When I was doing Botox, I only needed it every 12 months or so because the Frownies were so effective - even my dermatologist was impressed!

Jen Baden Howard's avatar

And yes, that: 'waiting for us to grow up and be "ourselves" again' - sigh!

Ooooh can you hear me zipping over to my Amazon tab from there?!! LOL HUGE thanks for the golden intel!

Amelia I’m so happy (!) I found your Substack! It’s my new favourite 💖

Oh yay, Emily! So glad you found me too! And your comment just made my day - thank you! ❤️

Great list!! Are you noticing a difference in your hair with Nutrafol?

Amelia Wilson's avatar

Yes! Nutrafol really works! I had tried other hair vitamins before but this is the only one that’s made a difference - I’ve always had very fine hair and without Nutrafol I’d barely have any! I also take collagen every day, which probably helps, too. Pro tip for Nutrafol: the recommended dosage is 4 capsules a day but most of the time, I only take 2, and sometimes only 1 - it’s that effective!

Laura Rennie's avatar

Amelia, when did you start noticing a difference? Like how many weeks or months on the product?

Amelia Wilson's avatar

I can't remember specifically because I've now been taking it for years. I think it was pretty quick, especially when I was taking the full dose of 4 capsules per day. More like one month than 3 months to see a difference.

Thank you!!
