I didn't know you were in the Hudson Valley. My parents are in Troy. Maybe we can meet up sometime.

I enjoyed seeing the photos and reading your experience of the spaces and the home’s evolution. It is such a privilege to peer into the very personal creation of a home.

The curated article on debunking the myth of “Men as hunters” is absolutely fascinating. I’ll be sending links to it all around.

Ellen, thank you so much for reading! Making a home is an ongoing expression of love and joy and I really appreciate mine - I'm glad you enjoyed "visiting!" That article is eye-opening - glad you found it interesting.

Lovely home! The stripe, check, and floral trick is neat. The wall map room where you play games seems cave like and makes me feel safe and protected just looking at it. ❤️

Thank you Shannon! That room is so cozy - and checks/stripes/florals is the easiest design trick ever - I swear by it! ❤️

Your house is gorgeous! And so intentional. I love it. (And now I must steal the “dirty dish towels basket” idea from you and Ina 😂)

This was so fun! I had very similar feelings about having a good spot for a Christmas tree when I bought my house. The first time I walked in to my house, I saw the spot and that was it. We made an offer the next day.

I love that! Whenever I look at places to live, I've always assessed the "party potential" - could I imagine inviting people over/where would we entertain!

Amelia! Your home is so cozy and beautiful. Ollie and Sandy are adorable. Hudson Valley! Ah! Thank you so much for sharing it with us. What a wonderful life you’re gifting the kids. I so miss wide open spaces and ancient trees. 😭 Please feel free to post pictures of that view anytime!! 😍

I’m most grateful for living two blocks from the sea, that I can smell the sea air from our back door, our cozy fireplace in the living room, that we have such a spacious place to live so close to the city—we are in Rockaway, 45 min away. We are in the middle of renovations and I can’t wait until they’re finished. This post gave me something to look forward to. Thank you ❤️‍🔥

Living close to the sea is a very special thing - you are lucky! That sea air smell! Renovations are a blessing and a curse - we just finished ours a year ago so I know exactly how you're feeling. It's going to be so great when it's done. Thank you for the kind words - I'll give the dogs a snuggle for you! ❤️

What a beautiful, warm and welcoming home! I'd love to know where you got the zinc table from? Thank you for sharing your space with us.

Thank you! I got the table from a Rhode Island company - ours was a floor model and on sale - here's their website: https://kingstonkrafts.com/dining-tables/zinc-top-tables

Wow that would be incredible! It makes me happy to know you've been there for 10 years. That gives me time to make my house into a Home. I know it takes time but man, I wish I was already at the cozy part.

It takes a long time. One room at a time! It's so overwhelming when you want to make the whole house nice. We have some pretty mediocre bathrooms that could do with a spruce up/renovation!
