What I truly want most for Mother's Day which is the same every year is a bunch of hours to myself to do as I please...alone. And then maybe an easy family dinner out somewhere at night but for a mom who is with her kids all the time running them around the greatest gift imho is a little solitude and freedom!
I love this!! With two toddlers at home all I’d like for Mother’s Day is to sleep in and have some “me” time. It feels counterintuitive to ask for time to yourself when it’s a day celebrating you and your relationship with your family, but I’m going to embrace what would be restorative this year! 💛
Not counterintuitive at all! Think of how father's stereotypically spend Father's Day - golfing. It's funny how our culture tells dads they should spend the afternoon doing what they like on their day and moms should have brunch with their family on theirs. Me time is also high on my list of Mother's Day wishes ... and for nobody to ask where their favorite jeans are or what's for dinner :)
I think you need to forward this email to your spouse/partner as a hint! 😉 And on a serious note - don't feel guilty - once the kids are older and more independent you will want to spend the day with them doing fun stuff. And by then they'll be getting up later than you! ❤️
Mother's Day this year is super special - we're celebrating my daughter and her gorgeous hubby becoming parents, the most beautiful gift.
As a family, we decided to create our own event for the annual Mother's Day Classic, so we're all walking, running or biking together early that morning and then getting together for brunch. My son turns 33 the same day (the year he was born it was Mother's Day) so we double up the together time and raise some funds for women's cancer prevention!
This year, I’d like to enjoy a phone-free family lunch followed by a sunset hangout around our firepit. If the kids would walk our dogs, plus load and unload the dishwasher without being asked, I may burst into tears of joy. 😂

I hear you! I hope you get many hours of alone time this Sunday! ❤️

So glad you liked LISTEN TO THE LIE. Happy Mother's Day! (Delighted that I got my mom a gift and then a few days later she mentioned wanting it!)
Such a great book! And congrats on your Mother's Day win!

Have a beautiful Mothers Day Amelia! 🩷
What an incredibly joyous celebration you're going to have! Congratulations! ❤️
I clicked ALL of these links! Especially loved the soda wars article — I’ve definitely sampled most of the brands it name-checked.
Do you remember the soda wars of the 80 or am I seriously dating myself?!
