I don’t… but I do have 3 things I must do daily to feel good - connect with people (in real life), create something (anything - a meal, a good email, write, photography) and be fully present.

I love these! Creating something is a big one - especially when we use our hands!

I love this! I wrote something similar a few years back — The Guide to Zoë — aka something to refer to when I feel funky. I loved the idea of it, but I never found myself actually using it. 😝 I’m curious how you integrate this list into your daily life so that the list becomes second nature.

It's taken me a while to really "use" the list and make it second nature. I keep it in my phone in a Note that I can easily pull up - writing about it was helpful because it made me think about each item on the list more deeply. Several of the things are automatic, like meditation and morning pages, which I do first thing every day without fail. My alarm is set for the same time each day and I religiously go to bed at the same time! I also try to walk every day, even if it's just for 10 minutes, and I look at my calendar a week out to check that I'm seeing people and not going a full day without social interactions!

I love this list Amelia. I'd add solitude and some quality time with myself to my version! 💕

Oh I agree! I think I can tend toward alone time so I need a constant reminder to get out and see people! It's always a goal of mine to do a weekly "artists date" and even though spending quality time with myself makes everything better, I don't always do it...

happy new year to you!

my goal for the new year is to make tech sabbath (no phone/computer from Friday evening to Saturday evening) a habit! I’ve done it sporadically over the past couple of years, but I want to do it every week. Good for my brain! Happy new year!

you can do it! I've actually been putting my phone on its charger at 6:30 or 7 pm the past few nights and forgetting about it - that's been nice, too!

Omg the desperate yearn to rest vs the WHY AM I BEING FORCED TO REST?!? I know it so well 😂 And I’m taking this post as a sign to add THE NORTH WOODS to my 2024 tbr pile...

I can't wait to hear what you think of North Woods. It's lovely - and different!

Now that I'm feeling better I'm telling myself that the next time I get sick I'll embrace it and won't fight the need to rest - but we'll see how that goes 😉

Hello there new Friend. 😃 I’m so glad you’re all nearly through your dreadful COVID bout. Sending best wishes for a good recovery for you all.

My happiness list is surprisingly similar to yours. I include brain training and art as well, but the rest? At least 30 minutes of exercise, interactions with my local community, neighbours and/or family, good fresh food, satisfying work, minimal news, sensible chores and some good fun each day, plus a little journaling and regular volunteering and I think we’ve about covered it all. A little bit of what you fancy, everything in moderation, old wives tales perhaps but it works.

All the best for the year ahead my dear. Sending heaps of hugs and best wishes. 🤗🤗😘

Sensible chores! I'm adding this to my list - a clean and tidy kitchen really improves my mood! Thank you for the kind words, and happy new year! 🎉
