I haven't thought about feelings as a goal, but I take comfort in knowing that such successful women don't set long term goals. I've always hated the idea of 5 and 10 year plans. I'm curious to try your approach to goal setting!

Wow. I am so inspired by this piece! The nuance, the detail, the care you put into creating such specific, well-intentioned goals. THIS is actually the point when we try to make goals….getting to the root, the feeling! Thank you!

I'm so glad you like this idea, Chelsea! Making the list was one thing, following through is another, for me at least!

Isn’t that the truth?! Always so much easier said than done. But we try. And trying matters.

Loved this! I do a word for the year every year and my word this year is Ease (after last year’s word, Brave, ended up being rather too apt!) love the idea of highlighting specific feelings though - I’m going to sit down tonight and jot some down 😊

Ease is permanently on the list of things I want to feel!

exactly - I just find it extremely hard to do this in practice, so of course, had to create a rule!

Love the feelings first approach! I'm a little late in doing up my 2025 goals but I'll be keeping this approach in mind.

This is so cleansing, even though I also have non-emotion-based goals for 2025. I realize I move my body, whether through weightlifting, yoga, or ballet, to ensure I have a joy-filled experience in my daily life and really love the Garten/Oprah mindset of doing the best everyday. Some days call for rest and that should be given 100% too. This line dragged me - "Like many driven, ambitious people, I believed my feelings were a pesky inconvenience I needed to control to achieve my ideal life." Whew.

Thanks so much for reading, Rachel! I basically spent the first half of my life convinced that feelings were to be completely ignored and the only thing that mattered was “thinking.” Paying attention to my body and how it felt, as well as the tiny voice in my head telling me what’s really most important, is an ongoing project!

Love this. I’m so skeptical of any goal that is dependent on other people (getting published etc.)

I haven't thought about the feelings first approach, but it makes so much sense. I love your content and writing style and am confident that you will publish a book someday! In the meantime, thanks for sharing your ideas here. They make my life happier! (Goal = happiness, Mini-step = read more Amelia Wilson)

I find the best feelings all stem from unconditional love. You wouldn’t believe some of the people I love unconditionally. Then again love can be tough sometimes.
