This movie was filmed near the town where I grew up...so all of these pearls of wisdom felt tailor-made for me (during an especially rough week). Just what I needed to read—#1 especially!
Love this! We live in Perth - from Ireland - and I am trying to plan our upcoming 15-year anniversary. Ideally we would go away for a night or two but with no family it's not really an option to dump kids with pals. Your idea of a day date is wonderful! I am going to do that - book a babysitter to come at 9am and plan a great day! Its in December so will be lovely and sunny and can enjoy the beach, tennis and all the cafes. What a great idea! x
I am visiting my parents right now and I have the chance to go out tonight with a dear friend who I rarely get to see. I was feeling guilty about it because I know I have a limited time left with my parents and I felt like I should stay home with them … but thinking WWFD made me feel better! This evening out with my friend will be a special memory, whereas staying home for dinner would be one of many similar dinners that will not stick in my mind. Just because my parents are getting older doesn’t mean I have to hoard every moment with them.
Full fat fun is such a great term! Now that I live in Chicago, I can’t go to the Art Institute for any show without stopping first to stand in front of the Chagall!
As a Chicagoan, I have a special place in my heart for this movie! This past summer it was shown at the city’s biggest downtown park and I went with some friends. During the Twist and Shout scene, the entire audience got up and danced. It was so fun! I’m a meticulous planner sometimes to a fault, and I DO plan strategic days off, but it reminded me that I need to leave room for spontaneity.
That is SO fun! It's a movie that really holds up - I've always loved it, and it was fun, as I was writing it, to think about Ferris as a middle aged man! Here's to more strategic and spontaneous fun!

Yes, I agree! I will be incorporating "full fat fun" into my vocabulary!
😆
it’s so much better than the reduced fat kind! 😉
Of course you must stop and recreate that iconic pose! 💃
Amelia!!! I have not watched this movie, can you believe it? I must do it so I'm able to come read your note with the backstory haha.
OMG, yes, you have to see this movie! It’s an 80s classic and it really does hold up! I can’t wait to hear what you think about it!
That damn 4,000 weeks book! I think about it every day.
me too! time is so weird - I understand intellectually that life is short but some days/weeks/seasons feel so incredibly long!
